CAM
There are several CAM (or certificateCertificate of advancedAdvanced masteryMastery) courses available at Century. There is Health Services, Digital Tehnology, PAC (people and the community), Business, and FAME (the Fine Arts). Students choose their CAM their junior year and start taking the prerequisites for the classes. The CAM classes give students time to work on theitheir senior project., Thewhich senior project need tomust be completed before they can graduate. No project, no diploma. Even though technically the diplomas are mailed home a week after graduation, but same deal right?

Lunches
Doughnuts, cheesey bread and pretzels used to be among the food served in the cafeteria. Soda machines were also once open to students during lunch. However, recently in an effort to promote healthier eating the pizza line is down to one line, albeit a long one, fries are only served once a week, the soda machines are on timers, and the only other choices for hot lunch are salads, bento, and the daily special. Some students like this, others are appalled. Many students bring their own junk food from home so that they can continue to gorge during lunch.

Students
Many students have been caught in the notorious "hall sweeps". The teachers lock the doors and the administrators round up the students who are late or skipping. The sweeps are to be random and unpredictable. The students caught are rounded up and hearded to the Commons (cafeteria), given a lecture and a referral. The big debate among students is whether this is the right thing to do in the never-ending struggle to crack down on skipping class.

Faculty
This year, Century has received some new faculty. Ted Zehr is the new principal of Century and Shelley Corry is the new Vice Principal. The new administration has pumped up security, authorizing "hall sweeps" to catch students skipping class, mandatory assemblies, and the new rules about no food out of the lunch room. They have been assisted by the security guards Darryl and Charlie.

Sports
Although the Century High School Jaguars currently compete in the very competitive 4A Metro League, they will soon move to the 5A Northwest Conference due to the new six division classification (See: OSAA) effective 2006-07.

Some argue this is the best for the athletes, pointing out that the football team lost almost every game. They won against Hillsboro High 22-20. The football team points out that their losses against Glencoe, Liberty and Aloha were close.

Century's football team did have some early success, reaching the first round of the playoffs in 2000. They were defeated by Tualatin in the first game, 34-0.

For Girl's (Powderpuff) football, the seniors beat the Juniors 12-6. And the boy's dance team performed at halftime. Nothing like a little role reversal?

While being outnumbered in student population, some of Century High School Athletics have been able to surpass such obstacles and make it to success. Century's Jagz Dance Team has made it to the Top 4 in state for the past 4 years.

Under the leadership of then coach Rian Petrick, the Jaguar baseball team reached the state playoffs in 2001 and 2002. In 2002, the team made it to the fourth round of the playoffs, before being defeated by Oregon City by a 7-2 margin. In that game, Oregon City's Jonah Nickerson pitched. Nickerson would go on to pitch for the Oregon State Beavers during their 2006 College World Series championship run. In that 2002 season, the team was ranked #1 in OSAA coaches polls.

Century softball has had similar success, reaching the playoffs in 2000 and 2004. In 2000, the team reached the quarterfinals, before being defeated by Clackamas, 4-0.

Century wrestling boasts several former state champions in different weight classes, and has consistently finished in the top 20 in team scores for the state. The team finished 12th in its 2003 season.

In addition, Century has been home to some of the league's strongest athletes - David Cernin (Men's Basketball, Baseball), Jerohmee Murray (Cross Country, Track and Field), Brysen French (Wrestling, Track and Field), Stephen Sullivan (Football and Baseball) and Sean Tripi (Soccer, Football).

Additionally, the 2005 freshmen football team went 5-4; the first winning season for Century football, and the freshmen basketball team went 19-2, taking the freshmen metro league title.

At this time, many fall sports are beginning their practices. These include football, cross-country, soccer and cheerleading.

Arts
The marching band is currently on their last day of band camp. Their show is entitled "Fiero". It has a latin theme. The songs include exerpts from Bolero, The Mask of Zorro and Magulara.

The marching band marches within many parades. The 4th of July Parade in Hillsboro, the Macy's holiday parade in downtown Portland, the Starlight Parade in Portland and the Grand Floral Parade in Portland. The Band also has marched in the Prince Kuhio Day Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Century is unique because the morning announcements are done on the in-school TV show, JagTV. Students create news "Packages" and broadcast them over the TVs in the school. Students also take turns anchoring and running the cameras.

The Century chior has had a good year. They travelled to Disneyland and performed at the Heritage festival there. The many groups are The Century Singers, Concert Chior, Treble Makers (girl's chior,) bassic harmony (boy's chior), and counterpoint (mixed ensemble). The goup sings in the school plays, at pep asseblies, you name it! All the chiors are led Mary Kay Babcock (Babs).
