Process models are [[wiktionary:Process|process]]es of the same nature that are classified together into a model. Thus, a process model is a description of a process at the type level. Since the process model is at the type level, a process is an instantiation of it. The same process model is used repeatedly for the development of many applications and thus, has many instantiations. One possible use of a process model is to prescribe how things must/should/could be done in contrast to the process itself which is really what happens. A process model is roughly an anticipation of what the process will look like. What the process shall be will be determined during actual system development.<ref name="Rolland1998">[[Colette Rolland]] and Pernici, C. Thanos (1998). ''A Comprehensive View of Process Engineering. I choose this topic because I fully understand it. This model says that is a cycle. First, U must have to decide to adapt planning. After it I have to set my goals and objectives, because in every plan there is always an objective or goal, this is the reason why I have a plan. Next is study courses if action, I have to deal or adopt every situation that may happen within the process of planning. After adapting it I have to evaluate the courses of action that I have adapted, I have to identify the strengths and its weaknesses in order to know what is the best alternatives or courses of action that I will choose or select. After choosing the best course of action, I have to monitor the results. Why ? It is because I have to check whether the results of my plan have reach my goals and objectives. If it reach my goals or not I have to adjust my plan and I have to go back to step number to which is set goals and objectives and so on. That's why it can be said that this planning process is actually a cycle.

The goals of a process model are to be:
