While the initial development of the Pop PHP Framework was focused on building web applications, version 3 fully supports console-based applications to be used on the [[Command-line interface|CLI]] as well. Pop PHP incorporates current standards, trends and patterns in software development in an attempt to build an ecosystem that should beis familiar to developers.

Pop PHP 3 is currently written for and supports PHP 7 and is backwards compatible to PHP 5.6.
