Development started in 2003 as automation system for a local FM radio station. A short history of how the project was started and reached its current state:
* version 1.0 (2003) - First public release. It wasn't really successful; most of the original development team members decided to leave the project.
* RadioBOSS 2.1 (2005) - Name changed to RadioBOSS. Version 2.1, the first version to have acceptable level of commercial success, released.
* RadioBOSS 2.8 (2007) - Added integrated streaming support (Icecast and Shoutcast servers) and other major improvements.
* RadioBOSS 3.0 (2008) - Added network stream relaying, audio file tag read and write support, translation to 14 languages.
* RadioBOSS 4.0 (2009) - Software divided into editions (Express, Standard, Advanced), redesigned user interface, new major features added.
* Starting with 4.0 the updates become very frequent with many new features added each year.
