Choconsaurus description Ameghiniana
resolved
I'd like to request this paper:
*Edith Símon, Leonardo Salgado, Jorge O. Calvo (2017). "A new titanosaur sauropod from the Upper Cretaceous of Patagonia, Neuquén Province, Argentina." - Preprint. Ameghiniana DOI:10.5710/AMGH.01.08.2017.3051. URL: https://www.ameghiniana.org.ar/index.php/ameghiniana/article/view/1021
This would be helpful in the creation of Choconsaurus, and/or the expansion of Draft:Choconsaurus. I've not been able to access this paper, and neither have the other people I've already asked. --IJReid <small>{<nowiki />{T - C - D - R}<nowiki />}</small> 18:36, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
:*IJReid, Couldn't access it either, although I found this URL to work better (other wouldn't load at all): www.ameghiniana.org.ar/index.php/ameghiniana/article/view/1021. Have you tried just emailing them and explaining what you want it for? Can't hurt. --Usernameunique (talk) 18:48, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
:::OK I'll try emailing the authors. Thanks for trying. I'll re-request once the paper is formally published (its a pre-print still) if i cant get it. == Looking for titles of articles about saxophonist Fred Jackson ==
resolved
I'm looking for the titles of three articles. The subject is Fred Jackson (saxophonist).
Two are from issues of Living Blues published by the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.
* The first article is from Living Blues, 1989, issue=84-89, page=56, issn=0024-5232, 3759004 see
* The second article is from Living Blues, 2006, issue=182-187, page=8, issn=0024-5232, 3759004 see
* The third article is from the British periodical Blues Unlimited published by BU Publications in London, year=1998, issue=148-149, page=53, 0006-5153 see
I need the titles of these three articles to resolve citations with red links. Thank you for the help.<br />–Vmavanti (talk) 23:35, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
:Vmavanti, have you tried asking Gyrofrog, who added that content? --Usernameunique (talk) 06:35, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
:: Usernameunique and Vmavanti, my recollection is that my previous involvement was to split the content from Fred Jackson Jr. (which would've meant that the references came from an earlier version of that article). Judging from the edit history, this is not the case, but for the life of me I do not remember creating the content, nor having access to the cited sources. (I believe I had access via Highbeam (or similar) at that time, but I'd like to think that I would've tagged the references as such.) FYI: As I recall (not that that's worth much), Allmusic (at least to some extent) treated both individuals as the same person, and I strongly suspect the discographical details in Fred Jackson (saxophonist) (specifically, those from the 1970s onward) are about Fred Jackson Jr. For example, compare Fred Jackson's credits at Allmusic with Fred Jackson Jr.'s, scroll down to 1973 and notice where they overlap (I suppose it's possible, but I think highly unlikely, that both individuals appeared on the same recordings). I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.-- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:53, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
:: Addendum: Well, I didn't access the articles via HighBeam nor Questia. I used to have access, but (having checked some old emails) it started about a year after the edits in question. My best guess is that these sources were formerly available on Google Books, or somewhere else on the web, and that I simply forgot to include the titles -- sorry about that. While my memory is fuzzy surrounding my earlier efforts, I can say with certainty that I never had direct access to the physical, print copies of these resources. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:02, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

::: Seeing that you are an experienced administrator, I'm taking the opportunity to ask for more help. I'm working on the Cleanup Listing for Wikiproject Jazz and there are many such problems to solve. Do you have any advice for me? For example, there are nineteen articles that have citations without titles, similar to the article I've mentioned. I've read the documentation about how to resolve these situations, but I'm still scratching my head. I've spent plenty of time in libraries and on the internet during my life, but some of these situations are like a needle in a haystack. Is deleting the existing citation and finding a new one an option? Or is that verboten?<br />–Vmavanti (talk) 18:53, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
::::Vmavanti Embrace gradualism and eventualism as you tackle this important cleanup. If you find a better source, you may use it to replace a worse one, but do not delete a source simply because you haven't been able to complete the citation. There are links above to the content without the title (Google snippets) or the title without the content. There are libraries where both can be found together, and this is the right place to ask volunteers to seek them out. It may seem like a needle in a haystack, but we at the Resource Exchange have really big magnets. It may take weeks or months (there is a time and money cost to visiting certain libraries, so we may go only once we've built up a long enough to-do list to make it worthwhile), but we have a good record of obtaining sources eventually. --Worldbruce (talk) 21:17, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
