One had a unusual formation by forming from an interaction of three different systems near the Yucatan. This occurrence is unusual but not unique, Subtropical Storm One of the 1974 season formed the same, unique way just about 12 years before. A reconnissance flight on June 17, reported that there appeared to be multiple transient circulations eddies at the surface, but no well-defined center.

The disturbance can be traced back two days before in the northwest [[Carribean Sea]]. The disturbance moved north and then a low-pressure center formed over the [[Yucatan Penninsula]]. Conditions in the [[Gulf of Mexico]] were favorable for tropical storm formation, however westerly wind shear forced the system to not strengthen. On June 17, the center had winds as high as a Category 4 hurricane.

A subtropical depression formed on [[June 18]] in the [[Gulf of Mexico]]. The subtropical depression gained subtropical storm status over Florida. From June 18 -June 20, One kept the same peak winds of 70 mph from the peak till it became extratropical. However the foward speed slowed to about 20 mph off the South Carolina coast, then reaching a foward speed of 45 knots near Nova Scotia. The central pressure remained at 992 mbar until June 20 when it dropped to 984 mbar as the center passed [[Sable Island]].
