This is obviously based on the famous line from the play as cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe are the equivalent to a horse.

*In The Simpsons ([2F17] Radioactive Man), before Bart's audition for the role of fallout-boy, he wows his fellow students and frightens Ralph with the line: "Now is the winter of our discontent".
