Arseus is said to be a legendary Pokémon and it is rumored to be the strongest of all Pokémon. It is one of two Normal-type legendary [[Pokémon]], along with [[Regigigas]].

Arseus has a base stat of 120 in every stat, giving it a base stat total of 720, which makes it surpass even the strongest [[Pokémon]] such as [[Mewtwo]], [[Lugia]], [[Ho-oh]], [[Rayquaza]], [[Dialga]], [[Palkia]], [[Celebi]], [[Kyogre]], [[Groudon]], [[Mew]], and [[Giratina]], all of whom have a base stat total of 680. Its high Attack and Special Attack allows it to unleash powerful attacks like Hyper Beam, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower and many more, while its high defenses allow it to be a special or physical tank. It can learn almost any TM/HM. Ironically, the few TM it doesn't learn are attacks that is mostly used in more deep tactic movesets.

Arseus's ability is Multi Body, a new ability exclusive to Arseus. In [[Pokémon Diamond and Pearl]], this ability lets the player attach one of 16 plates as hold items to Arseus. Arseus's type as well as appearance will change according to the plate attached; for example, if you were to attach the Fire Orb Plate to Arseus, it would become a Fire type and parts of it would become red. The plates encompass all of the existing [[Pokémon types|types of Pokémon]], except for the [[Pokémon types|Normal type]], as Arseus's original type is Normal. Additionally, when the Blue Sky Plate is held by Arseus, it will become a pure Flying-type, making this one of the few instances of a pure Flying-type Pokémon ([[Kecleon]]'s Color Change ability and the [[Porygon]] line's Conversion2 move also allow this).
