This is actually a true example. The 91st Scripps National Spelling Bee is coming up, and I decided to list the contestants, only to have it reverted, locked, and cited with a BLP 3 weeks later (all in one day). These children are notable, covered by the media (and have signed press release forms), and it caused no harm to anyone. It was a list of names, and many people would like to be written about. My fellow spellers and I were thrilled to be in a fairly popular Wikipedia page. Now some people clearly have a problem with it, and began edit warring.
What, if anything, should Wikipedia report about this matter? Should an effort be made to avoid mentioning the names of the contestants, even if it is widely known elsewhere?
