His 1993 novel, ''[[Scar Tissue(novel)|Scar Tissue]]'' was shortlisted for the [[Man Booker Prize]]. Upon his return to Canada in 2005, he became a visiting professor at the [[University of Toronto]], and in the 2006 federal election campaign he was elected to the Canadian House of Commons as MP for [[Etobicoke—Lakeshore]]. Ignatieff is a staunch supporter of interventionism, and was in favour of the [[2003 Invasion of Iraq]], despite the conflict's relative unpopularity in Canada, and recently in the United States.
