Because, in the latter case, I would point out that this doesn't seem to be a legitimate inference (the volume Google scanned here - from the University of Michigan - includes the issues "2003 Jan-Jun", according to Hathitrust, i.e. all we'd be able to infer from that is that the article must have appeared between issue 626 (January 2003) and 631 (June 2003), perhaps on page 59 - provided Google's software correctly identified the page).
