One of the largest and oldest LUGs in Australia, it has been incorporated forsince over ten years1993 and has over fifteen hundred members, including a chapter in the regional town of [[Ballarat]].

Meetings are held monthly at the [[University of Melbourne]]. The LUG is sponsored by [[Red Hat]] and the [http://www.vpac.org/ Victorian Partnership in Advanced Computing].
