The Lamborghini Diablo ("devil" in Spanish) is a sports car built by Lamborghini in Italy and introduced in 1990, as an evolution of the Lamborghini Countach. At a base price of approximately US$ 240,000, it had a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph). It came with two seats, mid-engined V12, 5-speed manual transmission, manual windows, and a manual seat adjuster.
Compared to more recent sport cars of the same category, both newer Lamborghini models and other brands like Ferrari, the engine sits slightly higher due to its design - the engine was mounted over the rear wheels but with the driveshaft emerging from the rear of the engine. This required a second shaft to be mounted in order to transmit the power forward to the transaxle. If Lamborghini hadn't taken this factor into consideration, it could have raised the overall center of gravity of the vehicle. To compensate, the Countach's wheel-track was increased to compensate which made the car significantly wider. Since the Diablo is derived from the Countach, it has these same issues.
