Summit East (formerly known as "Hyak" is the easternmost of the the four base areas and is accessible via I-90 exit 54. Adjacent to the alping ski area, the Hyak area has free cross-country skiing on groomed trails along Lake Keechelus on the [[Iron Horse Trail]] (maintained by the Washington State Parks). Also there is a free sledding hill at the trailhead regularly groomed by the WSP, open DEC-April (as snow permits). A trailhead parking pass is required in the WSP parking area. In summer thera are abundant opportunities for hiking and mountainbiking along the Iron Horse Train heading east along [[Lake Keechelus]] or west through the [[Snoqualmie Tunnel]] to [[Rockdale]] and beyond.
