Line 106: [[Image:012102_hyak.jpg\|thumb\|right\|Looking from slopes above Little Gold chair at the Summit East ski area.]] Summit East (formerly known as "Hyak" is the easternmost of the the four base areas and is accessible via I-90 exit 54. Adjacent to the alping ski area, the Hyak area has free cross-country skiing on groomed trails along Lake Keechelus on the [[Iron Horse Trail]] (maintained by the Washington State Parks). Also there is a free sledding hill at the trailhead regularly groomed by the WSP, open DEC-April (as snow permits). A trailhead parking pass is required in the WSP parking area.
