== Bhanot Rajput ==

Bhanot-s are Rajput warriors migrated from Awadh and settled in Garhshankar, Punjab. They took shelter in the forests and adopted the forest range at the shivalik foothills hence called themselves “Bhan - ote,” meaning ‘found in the forests’.
A century has passed and these warriors still have their presence predominantly in the twelve villages originally adopted by them. Though some have moved out to neighbouring cities and abroad mainly UK.
They are Suryavanshi Rajputs believed to be descendent of Raja Rama Chandra hence are also known as Raghuvanshi Rajputs, gotra Vaishisht.
Some of their villages are named as Padrana, Kitna, Satnaur, Salempur, Badesron etc they proudly liked to be called ‘Bhanot-s’ (or Bhanots) though are believed to be the brethren of the Naru Rajputs.
During religious festivalS and main events Bhanots worship their Kul Devta: Baba Balak Nath Ji and Kul Devi: Mata Naina Devi and their “Jathere-s.”
Their Queen mother, who committed “Sati” on seeing the slain head of her king, is still worshipped by them till date, even though the practise of Sati is forbidden, Bhanots go to pay respect to their Satis at Bhatpur.
