Roderick began his coaching career at BYU, his [[alma mater]], as a graduate assistant for the offense. He then spent a year at [[Snow College]] before getting hired by [[Southern Utah University]]. He spent two years at SUU as the offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and running backs coach.
