The midpointesmidpoints of the sides of an arbitrary quadrilateral form a parallelogram. If the quadrilateral is [[convex polygon|convex]] or [[concave polygon|concave]] (not [[Quadrilateral#Complex_quadrilaterals|complex]]), then the area of the parallelogram is half the area of the quadrilateral.
