Purén is a small Chilean town (13.917 inhabitants). It is located in the west base of the Nahuelbuta mountain chain in Malleco Province (650 km. south of Santiago). The economical activity of Purén is based in forest exploitation and agriculture. The most characteristical product of Purén is the white strawberry which is bigger and sweeter than common strawberry.

Recently it has been discovered some prehispanic proto-pyramids near Purén.
