Anahí Giovanna Puente Portilla, better known as Anahí (born May 14, 1983 in Mexico City), is a Mexican actress and singer.

Biography

Anahí started her acting career in the show Chiquilladas. Thanks to her sister Marichelo, who was in the show, Anahí started acting; as a child, she cried to her parents because she wanted to stay and watch the filming. Her career did not take off until she debuted as a telenovela actress in the melodrama Madres Egoístas. Anahí has had a successful career, having won awards from Ariel, Palm d'Oro, Premios Juventud, Bravo, and amongst those from other talent recognition events.

Anahí recorded her first album, under Para Musica Recording Company. Her first CD was Hoy Es Mañana which contained the singles Descontrolándote, Corazón de Bombón, and Por Volverte A Ver. Her second CD Anclado en mi Corazón was released a year later and produced singles such as Anclado en mi Corazón, Salsa Reggae, and Brazos en Cruz.

Though having become a singer, Anahí continued acting. After filming other Mexican soaps she got her first leading role as sweet and innocent Giovana Luna Guerra in the Mexican telenovela Primer amor... a mil por hora .

Also in 2000, Anahí moved from Para Musica Recording Company to sign a contract with Fonovisa, recording company with which Anahí released Baby Blue, her best-selling album. Anahí went on to receive nominations for the Latin Billboard Awards for the album. As a solo artist, Anahí managed to sell over 300,000 copies of her albums in Mexico.

She entered the Mexican hit series Clase 406 in where she portrayed Jessica Riquelme. In late 2003, she auditioned for the lead role in the telenovela Rubí, role which Bárbara Mori ended up with [1]. The following year, Anahí was invited to be one of the protagonists of the Mexican series Rebelde (2004), where she portrayed Mía Colucci. She signed a contract with EMI and integrating herself to RBD, the musical spin-off of the telenovela Rebelde. After having joined RBD, Anahí's fame grew rapidly having signed endorsement deals with Coca-Cola, Herbal Essences, and Kotex. In 2005, she signed additional endorsement deals with Avon Cosmetics, and Andrea shoe ware.
