It has campuses in the Armadale area close to the Jewish community of Melbourne. The King David School consists of the Southwick Pre-school centre, the Southwick Junior School (prep school to year 2), the Magid Campus (year 3 to year 8) and the Magid Institute (year 9 to year 12).
The school has also recently purchased a building named Minimbah close to its Magid Campus for year 3 to 8. Possible uses for the building include sports facilities and performing arts facilities.
The school achieves high academic results and is a member of Eastern Independent Schools of Melbourne (EISM). It's LOTE (Languages Other Than English) program includes Hebrew, French, Spanish, Russian and Yiddish. The school offers co-curricular programs in sport, music, drama, debating and outdoor education. The King David School's Information Technology facilities far exceed those of other Melbourne schools, due to their partnerships with Dell and Telsta. The Magid Institute's PC's all contain LCD monitors with Pentium 4 processors and are all running Microsoft Windows XP. Telsta has provided the school with a WAN connecting all of their campuses and providing them with fast broadband access. It is the fastest growing Jewish day school in Australia with over 800 students.
History
In the early 1970s a group of visionary people from Melbourne's Jewish community realised the need for a progressive Jewish day school--124.180.49.117 12:51, 28 February 2007 (UTC). In May 1977 the school purchased a property in Armadale. In the 1980's, the school grew in popularity and in 1984 the Magid campus was established. It was dedicated by His Excellency Chaim Herzog, then President of the State of Israel.
In 1991 the school opened a pre-school centre. In the late 1990's the school began to offer the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). In 2006 the Magid Institute was conpleted and a year 9 centre was opened. BTW MSMC PWNS and OWN3S KDS! Amen to that brother.
