Trip the Light Fantastic is the third solo album by British popstar Sophie Ellis-Bextor. It was released on May 21, 2007 following the release of the 2nd single, "Me and My Imagination", and lead single, "Catch You". The album was available on the internet on May 18 2007, three days before the UK release date. A five-track sampler has been sent to radio stations. "Today The Sun's On Us" will be the 3rd single released from the album. This has been confirmed in an interview featured on Sophie's official website. The promo video is said to be filmed in late June and the single will be released on August 5th."If You Go" is the confirmed 4th single. [1]

  • There aren't duets on the album. Only Dan Gillespie Sells is providing backing vocals for two songs on the album and Fred Schneider does vocals on one.
  • Sophie said that she wouldn't be posing on the cover but she later confirmed she would actually appear on it. She's said "It's sparkly, but hopefully it's got a bit more depth than just a nice picture of me on the cover!" [2]
  • She said that she worked with "a French guy named Dimitri" who was rumoured to be Dimitri From Paris, but turned out to be Dimitri Tikovoi.[2] She has also worked with Kerin Smith of theaudience.
  • The opening line in "If I Can't Dance" is, according to Sophie in a interview for the Times website, a famous quote by feminist anarchist Emma Goldman.
  • She wrote around 80 songs for the album.
  • She will be touring the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia, Asia and America during 2007 to support the album and promote the singles all around the world.
  • The album currently sits at #13 in the Top Albums Chart, and #3 in the Top Pop Albums Chart in iTunes. The album has received great reviews by the press with 'The Sun' giving the album 4 stars, 'The Times' 4 stars and 'The Guardian' 4 stars. All the reviews can been seen on her official website and she received comments by 'Grazia' saying 'The third album from the best pop artist around' and 'Metro' said 'Album of the week.'
  • In its first week of sales in the UK, the album sold 14,231 copies, entering as the second highest new entry on the UK album chart.
  • Sophie had plans to release a poppy version of "The Model" from Kraftwerk, but the band denied permission.
  • According to a recent interview on Sophie's official website album sales are fast approaching silver certification already, which means it has sold nearly 60,000 copies.
