Il Fight for the Fallen del 2019 è stato un evento di wrestling di beneficenza prodotto da All Elite Wrestling (AEW). È stato il Fight for the Fallen inaugurale e si è svolto sabato 13 luglio 2019 dal Daily's Place a Jacksonville, Florida. L'evento di beneficenza ha sostenuto le vittime di violenza armata, un riferimento al titolo dell'evento. Retroscena
La promozione americana di wrestling All Elite Wrestling (AEW) è stata fondata nel gennaio 2019. La società ha quindi tenuto il suo evento inaugurale, Double or Nothing 2019, a maggio, seguito da Fyter Fest 2019 a giugno. Fight for the Fallen era programmato come il terzo evento in assoluto della AEW che si è tenuto sabato 13 luglio 2019 al Daily's Place a Jacksonville, Florida; Il Daily's Place sarebbe poi diventato la base della AEW. Doveva svolgersi come un evento di beneficenza in cui tutte i guadagni sarebbero stati donati alle vittime di violenza armata, un riferimento al titolo dell'evento.[2][3] Il mese successivo, il 3 luglio, fu annunciato che l'evento speciale sarebbe stato sponsorizzato da Farah & Farah, uno studio legale specializzato in lesioni personali con sede a Jacksonville[4] e il ricavato sarebbe stato donato al Consiglio consultivo per l'assistenza alle vittime di Jacksonville.[5][6]
Il 9 luglio, il wrestler della AEW Chris Jericho è stato annunciato apparire in un ruolo non di wrestling all'evento.[7] Fight for the Fallen è stato trasmesso in live streaming gratuitamente sul servizio di streaming B/R Live in Nord America ed era disponibile tramite pay-per-view a livello internazionale.[8]
Storyline
Fight for the Fallen comprendeva nove Match di wrestling, di cui tre nel pre-spettacolo, che coinvolgevano diversi lottatori provenienti da faide sceneggiate preesistenti e trame.[9] Le trame sono state prodotte nella serie YouTube dei Young Bucks Being The Elite e nella serie YouTube di Cody's Nightmare Family The Road to Fight for the Fallen.[10]
Alla Double or Nothing, dopo che Cody aveva sconfitto suo fratello Dustin Rhodes, disse che come vicepresidente esecutivo della AEW, aveva programmato di avere un tag team match contro The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson e Nick Jackson) al Fight for the Fallen. Disse che non aveva bisogno di un partner qualunque, aveva bisogno di suo fratello, al quale Cody e Dustin si abbracciarono, confermando che gli Young Bucks avrebbero affrontato The Brotherhood (Cody e Dustin) al evento.[11]
Poco prima dell'evento, è stato annunciato che The Dark Order (Evil Uno e Stu Grayson), Angélico e Jack Evans e Jungle Boy e Luchasaurus si sarebbero affrontati in un 3-way tag team match al Fight for the Fallen con la squadra vincente che sarebbe avanzata all'All Out il 31 agosto per un'opportunità al bye nel primo turno del torneo di assegnazzione dell'AEW World Tag Team Championship.[12]

Il Buy In
Durante il Buy In si sono verificate due partite. Nel primo, Sonny Kiss ha affrontato Peter Avalon. Kiss hanno eseguito un Leg Drop a gambe divise su Avalon per vincere.
Nella seconda, Bea Priestley e Shoko Nakajima hanno affrontato la dottoressa Britt Baker, D.M.D. e Riho. Nakajima ha bloccato Riho con un roll up per vincere.
Match preliminari
L'evento si è aperto con MJF, Sammy Guevara e Shawn Spears che hanno affrontato Darby Allin, Jimmy Havoc e Joey Janela. Spears ha eseguito un Death Valley Driver su Allin per vincere.
Successivamente, Brandi Rhodes (accompagnata da Awesome Kong) ha affrontato Allie. Brandi ha eseguito una spear su Allie per vincere. Dopo il match, Awesome Kong venne affrontata da Aja Kong.
Successivamente, The Dark Order (Evil Uno e Stu Grayson), Angélico e Jack Evans e A Boy and His Dinosaur (Jungle Boy e Luchasaurus) hanno gareggiato per avanzare ad All Out per un'opportunità al bye nel primo turno nell'AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament. Grayson e Uno hanno eseguito Fatality su Jungle Boy per vincere.
Più tardi, Adam Page affrontò Kip Sabian. Page ha eseguito un Dead Eye su Sabian per vincere. Dopo il match, un Chris Jericho travestito è apparso ed ha eseguito un Codebreaker e un Judas Effect su Page.
Nella quinta partita, i campioni AAA World Tag Team Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr e Rey Fenix) hanno affrontato SoCal Uncensored (Kazarian e Scorpio Sky) in una partita senza titolo. Pentagon e Fenix hanno eseguito una combinazione Fear Factor / Diving Double Foot Stomp su Sky per vincere. Dopo la partita, Pentagon e Fenix hanno colpito Christopher Daniels, Kazarian e Sky con una scala. Chris Jericho ha realizzato un promo, proclamando che avrebbe sconfitto Adam Page per l'AEW World Championship inaugurale all'All Out. Page apparve e attaccò Jericho. I funzionari hanno separato Jericho e Page.
Evento principale
Nell'evento principale, The Young Bucks (Matt e Nick Jackson) hanno affrontato The Brotherhood (Cody e Dustin Rhodes). Cody e Dustin hanno eseguito simultaneamente Shatter Dreams e Final Cuts su Matt e Nick per un quasi autunno. Nick ha eseguito Cross Rhodes su Cody e Matt ha segnato un quasi caduta. Matt e Nick hanno eseguito un Meltzer Driver su Cody per vincere.
Ricezione
Jason Powell di "Pro Wrestling Dot Net" ha descritto Fight for the Fallen come complessivamente "un bello spettacolo", anche se pensava che molti incontri soffrissero un po' per la durata, e sentiva che la stanchezza si manifestava con un pubblico che era stato al caldo per più di quattro ore.[13]
Conseguenze
Fight for the Fallen continuerà come evento estivo annuale per la AEW, ma si terrà come episodi speciali dei programmi televisivi della AEW AEW Dynamite (2020-oggi) , AEW Rampage (2022-2024) e AEW Collision (2023-presente).
