Free range eggs are the eggs from poultry that have been allowed to range free, as Nature intended. The birds eat pasture, native grasses and many insects. The absence of the confinement which is a hallmark of intensive factory farming practices means that the birds have a far healthier and more natural diet. The grass-fed diet leads to an increase in nutrients as well as a decrease in bad cholesterol.

Some interesting research regarding the nutrition of free-range eggs is being conducted by the staff at Mother Earth News magazine [1].
