Mount Magnet is an old Western Australian gold-rush town . It is located 570km north east from Perth via the Great Northern Highway. Only few mines are still worked. However its gold-rush heydey can be seen in its very wide main street. Today it is a service town for the surrounding sheep pastoral district which supports some very large sheep stations. It is also a stopoff point for travellers heading north to Wittenoom or Port Hedland.
