Main musical equipment

Segue una lista dei componenti dell'equipaggiamento che Gilmour ha usato sia nei lavori con i Pink Floyd che da solista, tour compresi.

Chitarre

  • Fender
    • Stratocaster
      • Stratocaster del '70 ridipinta di nero, con battipenna nero e copri-pickup color crema, generalmente affiancati da un manico in acero del 1957. Vi è anche uno switch che permette di combinare i pickup al ponte e al manico. La chitarra è dotata di un ponte mobile Seymour Duncan con leva che appartenne a Jimi Hendrix.[1] Questa chitarra è lo strumento principalmente usato da Gilmour nel corso della carriera.
      • Replica del 1984 della Candy Apple Red '57 completata da un set di EMG SA pickup con i controlli dei toni rimpiazzati da un mini boost EMG SPC e un filtro passabanda EXG. Tale effetto fu usato in ogni tappa del "On An Island" tour nell'esecuzione di Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Tale strumento fu usato nel periodo seguente l'abbandono di Waters, durante i tour di A Momentary Lapse of Reason e The Division Bell.
      • Stratocaster #0001, che non è però la prima stratocaster mai costruita, ma la prima ad avere il numero di serie. E' stata usata per l'ultima volta allo Strat Pack Concert nell'arena di Wembley nel 2004.
      • Replica color crema del '57, usata solamente nel tour dell'84, nella prima parte del tour che lo ha coinvolto tra il 1987 ed il 1990 e nel Live 8, in cui è stata usata anche da Tim Renwick. Dotata con gli stessi pickup EMG e circuiti dei toni della Candy Apple Red '57, dopo il concerto al live 8 il manico fu messo sulla chitarra principale nera.
      • '57 Lake Placid Blue. (numero di serie #0040). Usara nelle sessioni di The Wall
      • Stratocaster a doppio manico. Usata nei concerti tra il 1970 e 1972.
      • Sunburst Stratocaster. Manico in palissandro del '63 e corpo del '59. La chitarra fu data a David da Steve Marriott degli Humble Pie and the Small Faces e benchè a Gilmour non piacesse, ne adottò il manico, che sostituì alla strato nera fino al 1978.
      • Stratocaster bianca con battipenna bianco, usata alla fine degli anni '60. Fu un dono da parte del resto della band.[2].
    • Telecaster
      • Telecaster con corpo chiaro con battipenna biancho. Usata nel On an Island tour.
      • Telecaster del '52 Butterscotch replica con battipenna nero. Usata tra il 1987 e il 1995.
      • Telecaster del '59 con corpo sunburst e battipenna bianco. Usata nelle registrazioni di Animals, e nel On an Island tour.
      • Telecaster del '61 usata durante le registrazioni di The Wall e nei live dopo ,'87 per Run Like Hell, vista per l'ultima volta al concerto in memoria di Syd Barrett del 2007.
      • Telecaster con corpo marrone sfumato, usata alla fine degli anni '60.
      • Telecaster chiara con battipenna biancho. La principale nchitarra nel rpimo anno con i Pink Floyd, persa da una compagnia aerea nel 1968, il che condusse Gilmour a comprare la telecaster con corpo marrone sfumato.[3]
    • Esquire
      • '55 Sunburst body aka "The workmate Tele". Neck pickup added. Used at the recording sessions for his first solo album, The Wall recording session and the following tour. Also seen when performing with Paul McCartney in the late 1990s.
    • Lap Steel guitars
      • 1950's Stringmaster twin neck pedal steel. Used in the early 1970s.[4]
      • Fender Deluxe lap steel. First time seen during The Division Bell tour in 1994.[4]
    • Fender Bass VI. Used during The Wall recording sessions.
    • Fender Precision bass guitar
    • Fender Jazz Bass. Used during The Wall recording sessions.

  • Music Man Fretless Stingray bass guitar. Used by Gilmour while running the house band at the 1991 Amnesty International concert, during Spinal Tap's performance on "Big Bottom." (All guitarists played bass on this song, and Gilmour played a solo.)
  • Jedson lap steel guitars. One red (1977-tuned D-G-D-G-B-E for Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts 6-9, 1987-2006: Tuned E-B-E-G-B-E) and one blonde.[4]
