The Estadio Azul, formerly Estadio Azulgrana and Estadio de la Ciudad de los Deportes, is a stadium with a capacity of 39,000 seats, located in Mexico City. This sport facility is currently used for soccer games and in the past (until 1990) for American football. It is the home of the Cruz Azul, one of the most important soccer teams in Mexico.
Both times when Mexico hosted the World Cup, this stadium has not received any game, mainly due to the age of the structure, the bad parking facilities and the complex way in and way out possibilities.
A particular characteristic of this stadium is that it is built as a pit, the game field is located down the street level. Another oddity is that just beside the stadium is set the Plaza México, the world's largest bullring. Because of this, sometimes when the people has time and money, and there are soccer match and bullfight the same day is possible to go to the soccer game at noon, and then at evening to attend to the bullfight.
