The 1996 Fed Cup was the 34th edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis. 8 teams competed in the World Group and 87 nations competed in total. The final took place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the United States on 28-29 September, with the United States defeating Spain to give the USA their 15th title.
