Maurice Minnifield is a fictional character from the television series Northern Exposure. He was played by Barry Corbin

History

Maurice was a soldier in the Korean War and an astronaut for NASA. At some point, he gained control of the family fortune of $68,000,000. After retiring, Maurice met Shelly Tambo and brought her up to Alaska to marry her. In the small town of Cicely, he lost his fiance to bartender Holling Vincoeur, driving a wedge between the former friends. During this time, he bought the land the town was on and set up the local radio station, KBHR.

Opinions

Maurice has a problem with homosexuals. He doesn't like communists either. He enjoys show tunes, especially from The King and I and Porgy and Bess. He loves to sing and never gives up an opportunity to do so. The correct designation of Maurice's radio station is KBHR, pronounced, Kay-Bare.

Love Life

To this day, Maurice still holds a candle for Shelly. However he has also developed a liking for Officer Barbara Semanski, a police woman who was hired to investigate the theft of his radio. He also has yearly visits from an astronaut groupie, Ingrid Klochner.
