Hi Lir. Great stuff you're writing. Tarquin

Right. Great stuff. Like this little gem she added to Iowa State- "Common pasttimes at Iowa State include drinking, smoking, tripping, and complaining." He's a regular Noah Webster. David dePaoli

Hey Lir, you might want to check out Wikipedia:How to rename a page which explains how to cleanly move/rename a page while keeping its edit history intact. --Brion 23:52 Oct 3, 2002 (UTC)

While you're at it, don't forget to take a quick look over the Wikipedia:Naming conventions. --Brion 00:42 Oct 4, 2002 (UTC)

In reference to the question you posted to Mav (and please use user talk pages for that sort of thing rather than the user page itself), you can find most of what you'd want to know about character sets at Wikipedia:Special characters.

Columbus's wife was the daughter of a navigator who worked for Prince Henry the Navigator. Various sources found by googling have him exploring around Thule, or trading to Madeira, or otherwise exploring or working on a sailing ship. Vicki Rosenzweig

Nice clean page you have here, Lir. -- Zoe

This is an English-language wikipedia; articles go under their most common English names; the other names are redirects. The same holds true for nicknames: articles under Bob Dylan (Robert Zimmerman redirects) and Bill Clinton (William Jefferson Clinton redirects). --KQ 04:03 Oct 22, 2002 (UTC)

When did the policy change, and why do you suppose no one except you noticed? --KQ

Lir, you were blocked by a sysop temporarily, but a number of other contributors disagreed with this decision, and you are now "unblocked".

If you look at my user page, you might find some helpful hints to avoid edit wars. --Ed Poor 18:34 Oct 22, 2002 (UTC)

Lir, I'm wondering why you created the following pages (four of which I just deleted):

  • (diff) (hist) . .N The Beltway Sniper; 01:09 . . Lir (moved to "Delete")
  • (diff) (hist) . .N Talk:The Beltway Sniper; 01:09 . . Lir (moved to "Talk:Delete")
  • (diff) (hist) . .N Delete; 01:09 . . Lir (moved to "Delete123")
  • (diff) (hist) . .N Talk:Delete; 01:09 . . Lir (moved to "Talk:Delete123")
  • (diff) (hist) . .N Delete123; 01:09 . . Lir (moved to "Delete3432432")
  • (diff) (hist) . .N Talk:Delete123; 01:09 . . Lir (moved to "Talk:Delete3432432")

Are you trying to help somehow? Was that a bug? A bizarre accident? The simplest way to move a page is to move it directly to where you want it, and not to two points in between. I'd like to think that you can be a valuable contributor. --KQ 01:16 Oct 23, 2002 (UTC)

Ah, I see. The server has been buggy lately; I hope the programmers sort it out soon. --KQ
