Sheynhertz-Umbarg
Konbanwa Aphaia,
I was very interested to read when you said that "Sheynhertz-Unbayg was banned from JA WP, (though by definition, it isn't considered a ban, but "blocking indefinitely"" [1]. The people at his request for comment do not seem to realise this. I am afraid that they do not realise how much of a problem he is.
Could you give me a more information on why he was banned/blocked? Could you also give me a link to his block log?
Thanks (arigato?),
--Sam Blanning 23:25, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
P.S. Schön, dass deine dritte Sprache Deutsch ist. Meiner Meinung nach sollen Sie mehr Deutsch and weniger Englisch lernen. Deutsch klingt einfach cooler :-)
Our projects
Hi Aphaia! Thank you for the message in my user talk. I will try to ask to Ascánder, Taichi or ManuelGR for proofreading that translation. Could you delete Translation requests/quick translation/Wikimedia:Our projects/Es:? I didn't see the original Translation requests/WMF/Our projects/Es: page, and I created that page wrongly. Cheers! --Zuirdj 06:13, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

to copy/paste my report on the page if you want. To tell you the truth...I have pretty much given up hope to make anything of the Foundation website. *sigh*. hugs, notafish }<';> 22:43, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Also, note that the "screen shot" below features a signature by yahoo.com. We know now that the signature is forged. So, either some super-spy cracked yahoo.com, of User:Node_ue forged the message himself. Shouldn't this guy be banned? Dpotop 19:50, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
You should take it up with an Administrator, as I saw Jmabel described such forgery as an extremely grave offensive against Wikipedia standards. Node's foul tactics should certainly not go unpunished. - Anclation
- I agree with Node ue's blocking. He should pay for his offensive act of forgery. --Fratele lui Bonaparte, il cunosti? 16:59, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Little problem
Hi Aphaia, I have a little problem about the page Approved requests for new languages and the user:Node ue. He erased the approvals of Old Norse and Old Church Slavonic Wikipedias, because he says that none interested peopled in this proposals, but I contacted with the users that will help the Wikipedias. However, Node ue persists in the erasing the approvals, and I don't accept a editions war. Thank you for reading me. まった... --Taichi - (あ!) 03:58, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your notice, Taichi. It is very nice of you to try avoiding edit wars.
- I am very interested in OCS in particular as Eastern Orthodox catecoumen, I can't understand it however. Supposedly it would be more profilic to attempt to create OCS Wikisource though, but I have no reason to oppose the creation of its Wikipedia, and full sympathy to the people to build it. I have personally no opinion on Old Norse.
- I guess one of the backgrounds of current confusions may be that we currently lack of any fixed rules to reject or close the discussion. If you succeed in establish criteria to close a discussion, it may be a help to reject such claims like Node us have been making? --Aphaia 09:18, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again, I have now a new problema about Node ue and other user, they discuss in my discuss page User talk:Taichi without my permission. Please, mediate in this problem, now I leave to vacations. --Taichi - (あ!) 05:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- See above, that Node ue not only forged emails but also uses an Anti-Romanian speech. He vandalises and is one of the most Anti-Romanian troll and vandal. Please block him once and for good.--Fratele lui Bonaparte, il cunosti? 07:47, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Translation combination boxes
The following text has been copied from Meta:Babel#Translation_combination_boxes. As an active translators, it may be of any interest to you:
Hi, Sabine worked on new boxes for translators. They aim at giving information about translation combination: say, I can translate from English to French, from Italian to Spanish, and so on. It would help us to know who can translate what, in what, to streamline the translation process. The boxes do not provide information about your level (wether you are a professional translator or not, for example); you may write something about this point in your user page (very useful as well). A few boxes are available, be bold and create those you need :) Be aware we use ISO 639-3 codes for languages (fra and not fr, eng and not en, ...).
Please see "Translator in the following language combinations" and pick up templates for your user page!
This message was pasted on several User talk pages of active translators.
Thank you :)
jd ৸ 02:04, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your information! I love to see it (later I learn about code ...). It would be much more helpful to have more combinations, like en-fr, en-es, en-zh like that, and then, layout would be needed to be changed a bit. --Aphaia 02:12, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Multilingual edit link
I'm sorry I reverted your last edit on Template:Election candidates 2006/quickview ML because it causes we lost the multilingual edit link. I don't understand which problem you met. Arno Lagrange ✉ 05:10, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- I apologise my reverts displease you. But I made efforts to provide a multilingual template and now with your last version it appears with an english title in all languages. Why must we have an english subtitle in non-english page ? Arno Lagrange ✉ 05:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- I thank you for your encouragements. I informed the eo-community by the eo-village pump (eo:Vikipedio:Diskutejo) but I didn't notice a lot af reactions: perhaps in august are most of wikipedians in hollidays far away from computers and internet connection. Confirmation for board?
Hello, I would like to arrange confirmation for the board elections. What's involved? Thanks. --Improv 00:59, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- The confirmation is being discussed by the Election Officials and Brad Patrick, our Executive Director and Legal Advisor. Now we are close to the conclusion, and I assure you will be informed the precedure soon later. Thank you for understanding. --Aphaia 01:02, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Re: 選挙の翻訳
ご連絡いただき、ありがとうございます。ja:Wikipedia:2006年ウィキメディア財団理事の選挙の査読の件は、了解しました。ところで、選挙監理委員などまだ日本語版のないものがあるように見受けられますが、テンプレートを日本語版へのリンクが可能なようにしていただけると幸いです。プログラムに関することは疎いので、勝手ながらお願いできれば助かります。--Bletilla 13:34, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Election Officialsを翻訳されているということでしょうか? --Aphaia 14:16, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- 連絡内容は2点あります。
- ja:Wikipedia:2006年ウィキメディア財団理事の選挙の査読は終了しました。「個人の好み」で手を加えたところもありますが、「投票資格」については大幅に手を加えました。迷ったのですが、そのようにしました。
- Election officialsは公正な選挙を行う上で必要不可欠な組織です。日本語なら理解できる人たちのために日本語版も必要ではないかと考える次第です。--Bletilla 14:32, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- 校閲をありがとうございます。あとで手を加えるかもしれませんが、それはご了解ください。
- ご趣旨了解しました。テンプレートを大幅に変更しないといけないので、さしあたり、Election Officialsに直接日本語訳へのリンクをおいて作業する、というのではいかがでしょうか。--Aphaia 14:37, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Election Officialsの翻訳の件は、もう少し考えたいと思います。ところで、Election candidates 2006/Ja#立候補に関する規定に「全3つのオーガナイザー」という表現がありますが、これは選挙監理委員3人という意味でしょうか。--Bletilla 15:15, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Election notice translation etc on Tr
Hey Aphaia, Thanks. Now again we all talk by our computers instead of face to face like we did Wikimania. :) For elections I will do may best to let Turkish community involve into this elections. Although not many contributers know hte candidates, I hope they will consider this election as a serious issue, and I hope they will vote. Thanks and I hope a smooth election. --Dbl2010 15:06, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Election notice on French-language projects
Hi Aphaia,
I have already informed the Wikipedia community, and now that I'm back from (too short) holidays, I'm going to check the other French-language projects are informed. I will also tell the frwp community again about the election, so as to have many voters involved. Btw, I noticed some candidates' presentations aren't available in French, so I'll try to translate them or find some people to do it.
Cheers! Guillom 08:03, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you! I will be very happy to see all candidates having their presentations in French. As Datrio says, those presentations are the most important part, without them it is hard to consider who will be the best choice. --Aphaia 09:17, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Removal of Cherokee Translators
Hello Aphia,
There are at present 7,000,000++ articles translated to Cherokee on WikiGadugi which are being reviewed and uploaded to chr.wikimedia.org, that's 15x the number of articles in Japanese and other languages in the other projects. I can appreciate your diligence, however, I am having trouble resolving your various statements. On the edit summary you state "fails 10K requirement" then on my talk you reference "promoting a website." The website you mention hosts nothing but Wikimedia content and is a basis of a machine translator that not only translates into Cherokee, but German, French, and other languages which are in development. The MediaWiki company does nothing but promote MediaWiki and Wikipedia content. The greater community has already stated that WikiGadugi is a part of the Wikimedia community. These sites are also governed by the GFDL and the same rules and standards that apply to all Wikimedia projects. Based upon these facts, I find your various statements inaccurate and confusing.
I know a lot of folks from Japan -- most of which are at very high levels of your society (Chairman of the Toyo Board, CEO of Fujitsu), and I have always enjoyed an atmosphere of mutual respect in these associations, as Japan is a beautiful and expansive society with a rich culture and unique people. Based upon this, I find it disturbing and hurtful to my feelings that you unilaterlly take such actions without talking with me or treating me with the dignity normally expected of any valuable contributor.
Please consider discussing the matter further.
Thanks
Merkey-Sama (I am always addressed this way by my business associates from Japan)

- I have added my name based upon the welcome on the Foundation List of Amgine and Sabine since you are unresponsive to my discussions. Please discuss any actions you plan to take regarding with me directly in the future to avoid the need to involve the entire community in a discussion the two of us could resolve ourselves. Election translation
--Ninomy 06:15, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- お知らせをいただきまして、ありがとうございます。これから歯医者なので(うひょう)後で拝見したく存じます。今後ともお力添えをいただければ幸いです。それでは。--Aphaia 07:47, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

査読ありがとうございました。見たところ致命的なミスは無かった様で、内心ホッとしております。またたびたびお手数かけてしまうこともあるかと思いますが、今後ともよろしくお願いいたします。--Ninomy 11:46, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

The election notice
Hi. Could you please visit en:MediaWiki_talk:Sitenotice#The election notice again and explain your reasoning behind putting the election notice on the Wikipedia sitenotice? Thanks. en:Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 02:35, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I have no enough time. And I don't think it necessary because I stated my point of view in foundation-l already. I gave a look at that page, but the discussion was painfully long for me to scan in minutes. Generally I cannot make a comment to things I am not sure if I understand that, and never want. If you request me to get involved more than what you find in my "this week todo" in the current situation, a full translation in Japanese is necessary at least in my opinion. --Aphaia 03:11, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
about the arabic translation
hi Aphaia, sorry for being late to answer your message coz my all interest is going to the arabic wikipedia coz as u can see it have areal shortage in articles so i dont particcipate in meta or english wiki as the arabic one. in regarda to what you said about translating the Foundation official website i see that it doesnt have an arbic translation. so it would be great to have an arabic translation. if its ok i can start translating the main page asap.--Berlin 17:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Great. Don't mind, you are not so late ;) As for Wikimedia website translation, you have your platform at Translation requests/WMF. There you will find a list of requests, and links to subpages where you can start your translation ... (usually [[/XXX/Ar]] are their names). If you have no idea there, please let me know. I'll find a good mentor for you ... there are lots of good people who are experienced in translation ... If you are interested in translation, our noticeboard Babylon and translators-l mailing list will be helpful!
- PS. If you don't mind, are you in Berlin or were? Just curious. (I was once in Muenchen, I visited Berlin only three days) --Aphaia 03:11, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
-- ok, now i see that the main page of wikimedia have no arabic translation so i can start translating it with some of main articles like about wikimedia, Our projects, contact us as a starter but i had alittle problem that it requests alogin before starting translating :(.i can translate the translators mailing list page and the noticepoard either. about berlin i dont even remember why i choosed that name but loved it afterward :D. --Berlin 11:57, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Updating election FAQ?
The election FAQ contains one item that is slightly outdated, Election FAQ 2006/En#How many elected positions are being voted for? Should it be changed, or at least a link to Elections for the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation, 2006#August's 17th notice be added? I realise it is not so easy to change these pages after they have been declared official, but it feels kind of silly to translate something that is already outdated. // habj 10:36, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Oops ... a good suggestion. I'll later try to update this item. Thank you for your remark! --Aphaia 03:11, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
