Rush is a highly-decorated, award-winning Canadian rock band comprised of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart (pronounced: 'Peert') that has consistently produced 24 superior quality releases since 1973 (28 years!). John Rutsey played drums for Rush on the first album, but resigned for health concerns shortly thereafter. Since Peart's 1974 arrival, they have endured remarkably intact.

Their style can probably best be described as falling somewhere between heavy metal and progressive rock. The music has the power of the former but something of the intelligence, complexity and virtuosity of the latter. The band can be considered an early prototype of the progressive metal genre.

Each of the three individual artists has successfully produced & released work independent of the band's innate structure.
