Paul Doherty
Paul C. Doherty (Middlesbrough, Gran Bretagna, 1946 - ) scrittore britannico.
Ha conseguito il dottorato in storia all'Università di Oxford.
P.C. Doherty (vero nome: Paul Charles Doherty) (Middlesbrough, Gran Bretagna, 1946 - ) è uno dei maggiori scrittori britannici di gialli storici di ambientazione medievale e certamente il più prolifico. Ha conseguito il dottorato in storia all'Università di Oxford. Vive in Inghilterra e da anni porta avanti numerose serie con il suo nome, ma anche con pseudonimi. Non tutti i suoi libri sono pubblicati in Italia. Per quanto riguarda la serie di Hugh Corbett, ambientata in Inghilterra alla fine del XIII sec., sono stati pubblicati i romanzi Satana a St. Mary, La corona nelle tenebre, Delitto nella cancelleria e L'angelo della morte; per quanto riguarda la serie di fratel Athelstan, scritta con lo pseudonimo di Paul Harding) e ambientata in Inghilterra nella seconda metà del XIV sec. (Mistero alla Torre di Londra, Lo scheletro del monastero, Il porto maledetto, La casa dei corvi, Il vicario del diavolo, Il regno del male, Fratello Athelstan e il campo di sangue e La casa delle ombre), la serie di Kathryn Swinbrooke, erborista che vive a Canterbury nel XV sec., con lo pseudonimo di C.L. Grace (Il santuario dei delitti, L'occhio di Dio, Il pittore di Canterbury, Il libro delle ombre, Il segreto del convento e L'occhio del labirinto) e la serie del giudice Amerotke, ambientata nell'antico Egitto nel XV sec. a.C. (La maschera di Ra, Il tempio di Horus, I delitti di Anubi, Le dieci coppe dello scorpione e Gli assassini di Isis) sono stati pubblicati alcuni romanzi nella collana I Classici del Giallo Mondadori. Altre serie sono pubblicate in italiano: quella di Roger Shallot (Gli artigli del diavolo, Il calice avvelenato, Gli assassini del Graal) con lo pseudonimo di Michael Clynes e quella di Alessandro Magno (Alessandro Magno e la vittoria impossibile, Alessandro Magno e l'uomo senza Dio e Alessandro Magno e le porte degli Inferi). Doherty ha scritto numerosi altri romanzi, non ancora tradotti in italiano.
I romanzi sono ambientati in svariate epoche storiche (serie di Matthew Jenkyn, di Sir Roger Shallot, dei Canterbury Tales of Mystery And Murder, di Nicholas Segalla, di Alessandro Magno, di Miriam e Simeon Bartimaeus, gemelli ebrei al servizio di Alessandro, di Mathilde di Westminster, di Nicholas Chirke, di Claudia, di Mahu e altre ancora...).
