- Sourced requests: If possible, please try to provide a reliable source to create a map. This includes a map already on Wikipedia with a reliable source or an external link. Note that some of us have access to libraries and may have access to cited books.
- Please check: Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
- Direct collaboration: Some mapmakers are especially interested by one area (e.g. India). If you notice a mapmaker fitting your needs, you can propose a direct collaboration, using his personal talk page to request maps.
