Longitude and latitude

Mostly by guess work and looking at google maps I have zeroed down to 21.15° N 79.08° E. I cant vouch for its correctness though it does seem all right.

Recent changes done to Nagpur's page

Macnol recently did some changes to Nagpur. I highly appreciate Macnol's interest in the city but not the changes did to the page. 1) There is unnecessarily wide window has been added to the page which makes the page very bad to scroll while reading. I would suggest resizing window or eliminate it. 2) Why was following information COMPLETELY DELETED? "Nagpur was a scene of great political activity during the freedom struggle. It hosted two annual sessions of the Indian National Congress and the Non Co-Operation Movement was launched in the Nagpur session of 1920. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was founded in 1925 at Nagpur by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. ". This is a very prominant and important aspect known to almost eveyone living in India. 3) I protest against the following line added to the page. ". Vidarbha is the most backward region of Maharashtra. " Please provide some kind of data or link to reliable source of information on internet by some link to support your statement. 4) Please provide information on this page which would about describing the city, its people, culture, history, administration and so on. Please try to avoid something so unimportant as to which trains/buses/planes go and come through Nagpur. I would suggest removing "of which The Vidarbha Express is most popular". Article very badly organized

This article needs some serious revision, both in sentence structure and facts. There are a lot of random facts. The history section is good though, but overall, the article needs a lot of organization. --Wikindian 20:42, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

What about localities in the city?

The article needs some information on the major localities in the city such as Ramdaspeth, Sitabuldi, Mahal, Civil Lines, Dharampeth, etc.

Incorrect Population figures

The 3 million plus population for Nagpur city was an estimate which needs a citation. I have replaced it with 2.1 million from the 2001 census. Also, the urban population of VIDARBHA is 3 million plus, not of Nagpur urban area.

Help with infobox and references

If you know how do to this, then please do it:

1) Along with the 2006 population estimate, also add the 2001 population (according to the 2001 census) in the Nagpur infobox (the blue square with Mayor, population, etc. on the right side of the page at the beginning of the article). The figure is already there in the editing page, but I am having difficulty citing both 2001 population and 2006 population in the infobox.

Thanks!

Perhaps there are a few too many unneccessary links in there. Actually, the whole page needs to be redone. It is too badly written write now and does not flow well. --Anshul 08:52, 5 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Private engineering colleges

I have left only the most famous ones in the article.--Wikindian 22:28, 18 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion: New Category and splitting of articles

All right, I propose that we split this article into multiple heads and put them ina Category:Nagpur What do you think? --Anshul 09:59, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I disagree - for the moment the article doesn't contain enough content to allow this... Sfacets 10:19, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Same here, the article isn't that long for a city as large as Nagpur. We just need to improve the flow. --Wikindian 18:20, 20 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
