"Going Under" was the second single from rock band Evanescence's first commercial album, Fallen. It was meant to be the first single, but the success from Bring Me to Life eclipsed the initial decision.

"Going Under"
Song

The song is about Amy Lee's relationship with an abusive boyfriend. (Fans speculate that 'Anything For You' an unreleased demo, is also about him) But it can be used to describe any type of abusive relationship. A very rare and hard to find demo version is also available over the internet and Pier-to-Pier file shairing programs. With only a few minor -yet still noticable- differences setting it apart from its Fallen counterpart. These differences can mainly be found in the way Lee's voice was mixed, as well as the sound of the instruments, the beat, and the main aspects of the song's sound, however, are the same (It should be noted that the vocals are also the same).

The music could be heard in the credits of the video game Enter The Matrix.

The music also features in the movie Tristan & Isolde (2006), and is played in the trailer.

Video

The video for Going Under (directed by Philip Stolzl) featured the band at a gig in a place full of zombies. Normal people attending the gig transform into said zombies throughout the course of the video. Lee stated that the zombies symbolized the media trying to get a piece of them, the queries about their religion and such. There are also segments featuring Lee singing in a pool of water, apparently (as the lyrics state) "drowning in you".
