After reaching 1000 files at the beginning of the month, Wikimedia Commons grew slowly during October. The end of the month saw a large influx of images of plant species. Important Mediawiki coding work, enabling the usage of pictures from Commons in various Wikimedia projects without the need of re-uploading went life at the end of October, and brought with it a promise of more extensive Commons usage in the near future.
