"Eyes On Me" is the theme song for the video game Final Fantasy VIII, composed by Nobuo Uematsu, with lyrics by Kako Someya. There are several versions of this song(one of the background themes of the game called Juliane, a theme for Julia Heartlly, is seemingly a rendered musical version of the song) , but undoubtly the most popular are the versions sung by Faye Wong, which made this Hong Kong singer renowned outside of East-Asia. The song ranked as one of the best sellers in Japan and collected a few music awards as well.
The song's lyrics unveils the love story between a singer and one of the members of her audience. It can be assumed that they have not met yet, but both share a romantic interest.
The song was also rerecorded by Angela Aki for release on her Kokoro no senshi single.
Template:Spoiler In the game, the song is supposedly written by Julia Heartilly, a pianist who is the love interest of Laguna Loire. She has a conversation with Laguna which assumedly inspires her to write and perform this song. Chronologically later in the game, the song becomes the reflection of the unfolding love story between the two protagonists, Squall Leonhart, and Rinoa Heartilly (Julia's daughter). The song is heard repeatedly throughout the game as various remixes though no lyrics are heard. It's full version can be heard during Squall's and Rinoa's lonely moment at the Ragnarok starship. It is played once more at the end after the player defeats Ultimecia.
