Samuel E. "Sam" Mitchell jr. (pron. Template:IPA2; Columbus, 2 settembre 1963) è un ex cestista e allenatore di pallacanestro statunitense.
Carriera
Allenatore
Fino al 2004 è stato (per due stagioni) vice-allenatore dei Milwaukee Bucks, passato poi per una breve esperienza agli Charlotte Bobcats fino a quando è stato nominato come allenatore della franchigia dei Toronto Raptors.
È stato nominato (aprile 2007) allenatore dell'anno per la stagione 2006-07, avendo raggiunto un coefficiente superiore a .500 e avendo vinto la Atlantic Division.
Il 30 marzo 2007, Mitchell ha vinto la sua centesima partita nel campionato NBA quando i Raptors hanno battuto i Washington Wizards al Verizon Center.
Il 3 dicembre 2008 viene esonerato dai Toronto Raptors.
