Synopsis

Charlie Farrow (Patrick Dempsey) is a Boston law school student, who happens to be terrific at poker. One night he has to leave his home game early because he doesn't have "trust funds" like his friends do and has to work (at a garage). Charlie's boss gives him the task of delivering a car to someone in Atlantic City (which is greatly welcomed because it has a high pay rate).

This easy task turns into a living nightmare. On the way to Atlantic City, the car breaks down and he has to have it fixed. It takes a while, so Charlie goes to a casino run by the mob. He gets into a fight with the son of a notorious mob boss. The son tries to attack him, but trips and hits his head, leaving him dead and Charlie in a lot of trouble.

He is stranded in the New England town and haunted by a crime lord, Charlie becomes the target of vicious mobsters and a corrupt police force who will stop at nothing to find him and collect the $50,000 bounty the mob boss has placed on his head. With only one ally, a reluctant witness (Kelly Preston), Charlie finds himself in over his head in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
