New userboxes
I have deleted a userbox template you recently created, as userboxes should no longer be created in templatespace per the terms of the German userbox solution. Here is the userbox code so that you can recreate the userbox in your userspace ("userfying") if you wish.
<div style="float:{{{float|left}}}; border:{{{border-width|1}}}px solid {{{border-color|#F48B66}}}; margin:1px;"> {| cellspacing="0" style="width:238px; background:{{{info-background|#351D21}}};" | style="width:45px; height:45px; background:{{{logo-background|{{{1|#F48B66}}}}}}; text-align:center; font-size:{{{logo-size|12}}}pt; color:{{{logo-color|#F48B66}}};" | '''{{{logo|[[Image:Enthusiasm.png|May the enthusiasm be with you young padawan!|40px]]}}}''' | style="font-size:{{{info-size|8}}}pt; padding:4pt; line-height:1.25em; color:{{{info-color|#A08362}}};" | '''This user is Enthusiast !''' |}</div>
RE:Sonatine
Actually I think I was right, if You go and read what the fields "Preceded by" and "Followed by" are for, You will remove the addition. Thank You kindly, feydey 21:12, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm afraid it is only for trilogies and such. feydey 21:20, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think the "Preceded by" and "Followed by" fields are very well defined. The problem is that You want to define it by the Director, why not by leading Actor/Actress or by Producer etc. - this is why it is like that. Do You see the point. And please do not go changing it by yourself. Best, feydey 21:28, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for volunteering to remove the links, I did the first film by Kitano, so You can do the rest. :) feydey 21:44, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Vanity
Is this page vanity or not: Mikhail Lebedev --GoOdCoNtEnT 08:08, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've no time to waste with your stuffs, ask someone else, there are plenty of useless editors making peanuts outhere and I'm really busy. Shame On You 08:13, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Mylène Farmer
You're right, it's not Mamoru Oshii who commited the video of Peut-être toi. Sorry and thank you ! ;) Cocoman3012 10:15, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
- it looks like him, but it's not him. ^^ Shame On You 13:47, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Two examples
Below are two examples of controversial subjects that have been relatively free of POV pushing, I think because they're presented in a way that keeps people from feeling that a particular POV is present:
Attack on Pearl Harbor- I wrote the original version of the first section in the Background section about how Japan reached the decision to go to war with the U.S. Who's to blame for starting WWII in the Pacific is, of course, a very controversial topic and that article attracts a lot of POV pushers. Although other editors have modified my text to some degree, it still reads pretty much the same as I originally wrote it.
Japanese war crimes- An edit war was occurring in the "Official Apologies" section [1] (see the discussion page for details on the edit war). After I rewrote most of that section with numerous citations, it has been left completely alone since then. That article is also very controversial and attracts "tons" of POV-pushers, but that section has been left completely alone. I guess no one has a problem with it so far.
My point: Don't give up. You know that you've presented a controversial subject neutrally and well when it gets left alone, and then you've accomplished something in adding value to the overall Wikipedia body of knowledge. I'm sure that you have a lot that you can contribute to Wikipedia, in addition to what you've contributed so far. Cla68 02:33, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Question
Hey, you said your dad fought in World War II under the Free French Navy. I was just curious: what battles did he participate in?UberCryxic 00:42, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- wasn't my dad, by my grand father. my dad was Alpine Hunter in the french alps. My grand father lived in the French Algeria colony (it was actually called a "département"). I'll ask my father and uncle about that. Already heard the ship's name, remember it was famous (found pictures on google years ago), but i can't remember its name now. i'll just ask and told you. my father and grand father lived in Arzew (aka Arzeu, aka Arziw aka St.Leu). US troops came in Arzew in 1942 but my grand father was in the navy for years (my father was born four years later). they seemed to have fought there: [here is an US Ranger in the outskirts of Arzew]. I don't know who they were figting, German or Vichy France. There must be infos about these events in US army or veterans sites. Shame On You 01:12, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
