Caratteristiche
Libreboot è una distribuzione di Coreboot (e non un fork diretto) al quale vengono rimossi i blob binari.[1]
Storia
Nato nel 2013, è dal 2015 supportato dalla Free Software Foundation[2] ed è entrato nel maggio 2016 parte del progetto GNU.[3]
Progetto GNU
Dopo essere entrato a far parte del progetto GNU a maggio 2016, a settembre la sviluppatrice principale di Libreboot, Leah Rowe[4], ha annunciato l'uscita dal progetto, in quanto un ex-impiegato transgender della Free Software Foundation avrebbe subito episodi di discriminazione.[5] Le accuse furono respinte dalla FSF[6]. Da parte di Lea Rowe la polemica si concluse nell'aprile 2017 con delle scuse ufficiali, auspicando di ritornare alla precedente collaborazione fra le due comunità.[7][8]
