Artoday, 1995 or 1999 edition, for check of potential copyvio.
- Lucie-Smith, Edward (1995). Artoday. London: Phaidon. ISBN 9780714838885.
For Karel Balcar
I am concerned that the linked article may be a copyright violation of this source. Unfortunately, I have not been able to access the 1995/1999 (the ISBN matches the 1995 edition, the reference states the 1999 edition) to confirm or deny this. Could someone with access please look into this?
Thanks, BilledMammal (talk) 06:49, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
- @BilledMammal:. The article is not a copyright violation of Artoday. As near as I can tell, that book doesn't contain a single word about Karel Balcar. Lucie-Smith does write something close to the sentence that was italicized in the article. Wikipedian NoJin changed words here and there in an apparent attempt to paraphrase him. Perhaps that's why they didn't use quotation marks. Accurately quoting a single sentence is not a copyright violation, so I've edited the article to use Lucie-Smith's original language, placed it in quotation marks, and cited the page number on which it appears. Is there any more information you need from Artoday, or are you ready to mark this thread {{resolved}}? --Worldbruce (talk) 22:22, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you @Worldbruce:. That does bring up other concerns about the article, but none that are relevant here; I am ready to mark this resolved. BilledMammal (talk) 06:44, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

1980s Newsbank search request (Texas sources)
{{resolved}}
Hello. I'm looking for specific sources for my article draft at Annette Smith-Knight. I have a February 5, 1987 Denton Daily Lass O source that says she had worked for Myra McDaniel, who was the Texas Secretary of State at the time from 1984 to January 1987. I also have a July 21, 1993 source from the Victoria Advocate (Texas) saying that Annette Smith-Knight worked for the Texas Secretary of State for three years, making this either 1986 to 1988 or 1987 to 1989. I'm looking for several things:
- 1) A source that shows she worked for Jack Rains, who was Texas Secretary of State from 1987 to 1989.
- 2) Any sources that gives specific positions she worked in for the Secretary of State
- 3) A source that states if she was hired in 1986 or 1987.
At the time, her name was Annette Smith but it might also say Annette Smith-Greene. If there's any mention of her playing for the Texas Longhorns at Austin or Bay City, this is the same person. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 20:24, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Help finding the June 28, 1900 issue of the Eugene Daily Guard
Could I have assistence in getting the article "McKenzie bridge about finished" in the Eugene Daily Guard from June 28, 1900? I'm looking for information on Hayden Bridge contained in this issue of the paper. I don't know anything more about the issue other than the article I'm looking for, the paper, and the date of publication. Here is a brief citation:

1970s to 2000s Newsbank request (Texas) for Barbara Brown / Barbara Brown-McCoy
{{resolved}}
Hello. I'm looking to make an article on Barbara Brown (basketball) (now Barbara Brown-McCoy), who was a 1979 FIBA World champion in women's basketball. As I'm struggling for sources, I like to request if anyone with Newsbank access see if there's indepth coverage for her. I have these two sources and a July 15, 1977 Abilene Reporter News article, but that's it. I know she played basketball at Stephen F. Austin. In 1979, she won gold at FIBA world championship, Pan American Games and Jones Cup. She also was going to compete at 1980 Olympics before it was boycotted. Otherwise, I know she coached high school basketball at Bryan Adams and South Oak Cliff before becoming an athletic director at Dallas Independent School District. That's all from the first link above, but I don't have in-depth articles that mention it. TLDR I'm looking for any coverage of Barbara Brown / Barbara Brown-McCoy between the 1970s to 2000s. She might have also been named Barbara Brown-Robinson, but I'm not sure. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 03:47, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

- Also, I forgot to add that I wanted to find which page the quote "The finest of MacDowell's short characteristic pieces are collected in four suites. Woodland Sketches, Opus 51 (1896); Sea Pieces, Opus 55 (1898); Fireside Tales, Opus 61 (1902); and New England Idyls, Opus 62 (1902)." appears on, since the only source I have for that so far is just a recording description. - @GeneralPoxter: In regards to your quote, it's also on page 145. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:11, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- All right thanks. Worst case, I'll just use that page for the article. GeneralPoxter (talk • contribs) 23:31, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

- Okay I guess since only that one quote is relevant, and the article holds up pretty well with just that one page from Tawa, I'll close this request. GeneralPoxter (talk • contribs) 15:41, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Newspaperarchive.com
I've just submitted an application for a Newspaperarchive.com subscription at WP:LIB but in the meantime I wonder if anyone could provide me some details from page 2 of the 6 May 1905 London Standard? The section I am interested in is "Horace Downey Harral" under "Wills and Bequests", for a new article I am working on. He was an engraver and seems to have become rather wealthy, leaving significant bequests to numerous charities and it would be good to outline this in his article - Dumelow (talk) 09:18, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Dumelow: I can send the pdf page from British Newspaper Archive, along with my transcription if you email me. DuncanHill (talk) 09:33, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Dumelow: I've clipped that piece from Newspaperarchive.com here. —Bruce1eetalk 09:35, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- {{resolved}} Brilliant, thanks for the quick response guys. I've emailed you DuncanHill, but you can ignore it as I can work from the clipping provided by Bruce1ee. Thanks so much - Dumelow (talk) 09:38, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Dumelow: sent before seeing the above! There are mentions of his bequests in various local newspapers as well, which could be of use if you wanted to track down the £100 bequests allocated by his trustees. DuncanHill (talk) 09:42, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks DuncanHill, much appreciated. Hopefully I'll get access through WP Library soon and I can track those down. Cheers - Dumelow (talk) 09:45, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
