Hell in a Cell (WWE)
Hell in a Cell è sia uno degli eventi a pagamento organizzato annualmente dalla WWE, che una tipologia di match solitamente (ma non esclusivamente) proposta in tale pay-per-view per l'assegnazione dei titoli mondiali e/o per le sfide più sentite.
La prima edizione dell'evento risale al 2009, quando ha sostituito No Mercy nel calendario della WWE.[1] Il nome dell'evento è stato scelto dai fan tramite un sondaggio sul sito ufficiale della WWE nel giugno 2009 tenendo presente la tipologia dei match. Hell in a Cell è stato il più votato davanti a No Escape, Lock Up e Rage in a Cage.[1][2]
L'evento include sempre dei match svolti con la stipulazione Hell in a Cell, nei quali i contendenti si affrontano all'interno di una struttura a gabbia alta 20 piedi.[1][3][2] La gabbia è molto più ampia di quella di un normale steel cage ed offre uno spazio fuori dal ring nel quale i wrestler possono lottare, usufruendo inoltre degli oggetti presenti sotto al quadrato. Il tetto è raggiungibile dall'esterno, ma raramente il match si sposta su di esso. Il primo Hell in a Cell match si svolse nel 1997, al pay-per-view Badd Blood: In Your House e fu combattuto da The Undertaker e Shawn Michaels e con la vittoria che andò a quest'ultimo grazie all'interferenza del debuttante Kane il quale attaccò il Phenom. Undertaker detiene il record di vittorie (7 su 13 prestazioni, 8 su 14 considerando anche i tag team match), seguito da Triple H, che ha vinto quattro volte in singolo e due in coppia.
All'evento il 30 ottobre 2016 è stato disputato il primo Hell in Cell match tra due lottatrici, Sasha Banks e Charlotte Flair.
