Williamsville South High School is one of the three high schools in Williamsville located in the Williamsville Central School District, outside of Buffalo, New York.
Famous alumni of Williamsville South High School include Joyce Carol Oates (novelist), Neil Abercrombie (politician - State of Hawaii), James Dombrowski (New Orleans Saints Hall-of-Famer) and Steve Abbott (television, commercial and motion picture actor).
The Class of 1987 Reunion Committee is currently planning our 20th Reunion for July 13-14th, 2007. We sincerely hope that Michelle will agree to participate.
Sports and Athletics
Williamsville South's athletic dept. offers a variety of sports offering competition at the modified, JV, and varsity levels.
South's Varsity Hockey team advanced to the NYSPHAA State Semifinals in 2006, but has currently fallen on hard times, having only won 3 games in the 2007 season. Which is really good considering they used to be bar room brawlers when they first started.
South's Baseball and Softball teams have always enjoyed success, as both have won state championships in recent years.
South's Football squad can lay claim to a great history, having been undefeated in the regular season and laying claim to division championships for several years under legendary coach Chuck Huber. in 1994, Souths football team went undefeated until the State Championship, where they lost by a single point to Yorktown, having failed to convert on a two point conversion. In recent years, South's Football team has become notorious for having a losing record, having only won 1 game each season for the past 6 years. They never got over the graduation of the class of '87 star players. In November of 2006, current South Head Coach Ryan Gallo was dismissed from his position. They are hoping to draft Jeff Guy as the new head coach since his retirement from his stellar Indoor Fottball career.
