M142 HIMARS

Il M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), anche conosciuto come M-142 HIMARS (), è un lanciarazzi multiplo leggero sviluppato alla fine degli anni '90 per l'esercito degli Stati Uniti, montato su un telaio standard per camion M1140 dell'esercito americano.

L'HIMARS trasporta sei razzi o un missile MGM-140 ATACMS sul camion da cinque tonnellate della famiglia di veicoli tattici medi (FMTV) dell'esercito americano. È in grado di lanciare l'intera famiglia di munizioni (MFOM) del sistema di lancio multiplo. Le munizioni HIMARS sono intercambiabili con l'MLRS M270A1; tuttavia, è in grado di trasportare solo un pod anziché i due standard per le varianti M270 e A1.

Il lanciatore è trasportabile su un C-130^[5]. Il telaio è stato inizialmente prodotto da BAE Systems Mobility & Protection Systems (ex Armor Holdings Aerospace and Defense Group Tactical Vehicle Systems Division), il produttore di apparecchiature originali dell'FMTV. Nel 2010, la produzione del telaio è stata rilevata dalla Oshkosh Corporation. Dal 2017^[6], sia il telaio che il sistema di lancio sono ora prodotti da Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control a Camden, in Arkansas^[7].

Nuovo sistema missilistico a lancio multiplo basato sul Programma WR-300 "Homar" della Polonia. Fabbricato in collaborazione tra Huta Stalowa Wola, ZM Mesko e Lockheed Martin. Ordinati 160 lanciatori che saranno montati su un telaio Jelcz 663 6x6^[8][9]. Nell'ottobre 2018, la Polonia ha ufficialmente richiesto l'acquisto dei lanciarazzi, dopo che il Dipartimento della Difesa degli Stati Uniti ha autorizzato l'acquisto di un massimo di 56 lanciatori nel novembre 2017^[10][11]. Il 29 novembre 2018 il Dipartimento di Stato americano ha approvato la vendita alla Polonia.^[12]. La Polonia acquisirà 20 lanciatori HIMARS^[13][14]
