History
WorkJam was founded in 2014 by Steven Kramer, Joshua Ostrega and Mark Sadegursky[4] with the goal of addressing inefficiencies in hourly workforce scheduling and communications to improve the working lives of frontline employees.
In 2017, WorkJam closed a $12 million growth investment round with backing from Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Blumberg Capital, Founder Collective, and NovelTMT. This funding was intended to enhance the mobile platform and accelerate global expansion.[5]
The company continued to grow, and in January 2019, WorkJam acquired Peerio Technologies, a secure employee communication software provider, to enhance the security of its digital workplace platform.[6]
In April 2020, WorkJam announced it had secured $50 million in a Series C funding round.[7]
The round was led by Inovia Capital with participation from existing investors.[8]
This investment was aimed at product innovation, geographic expansion, and potential acquisitions. By this time, WorkJam's platform was being used by 1.5 million frontline employees across 35 countries.[9]
WorkJam continued its growth trajectory, and by August 2021, the company had raised an additional $35 million in growth financing from Silver Lake Waterman.[10]
In November 2022, WorkJam secured another $50 million in a Series D [round], co-led by Inovia Capital and Fonds de solidarité FTQ, valuing the company at over $500 million.[11]
This capital was earmarked for expansion in Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the United States.
In July 2024, the company announced a $20 million investment from Export Development Canada (EDC) to further expand its international operations.[12]
Today, WorkJam is recognized as a leader in the digital frontline workplace, serving major brands like [Eagle Outfitters], Circle K, [[1]], and Starbucks. The platform is available in over 45 languages and is used by millions of hourly workers and other frontline employees in over 50 countries.
