How I Came to Be Here
I don't know when exactly I first stumbled upon Wikipedia. But I remember reading an article, and thinking "Hey, I can do a better job than this". So I clicked "edit this page", and that was that. Of course, that was just the start, as I knew nothing about WP policies, the markup language, and the numerous other small things. I edited anonymously for several months, and it was definitely a steep learning curve. Still, I kept at it, and I finally recently decided to join the fray officialy and register.
My Thoughts on Wikipedia
After observing Wikipedia for a while, I have come to one definite conclusion- a complete Wikipedia is impossible. In my lifetime, there is no way on earth that WP will actually get every article to an encyclopediac standard. The number of articles that need to be expanded, cleaned up, or properly sourced is staggering. True, some articles have reached a high standard, and are probably one of the best resources you can find on the Net. However, those pages are in a tiny, tiny minority, less then one-tenth of a percent. Articles that are "acceptable" (which means that another encyclopedia could do better with it) make up an underwhelming .12% (12 out of every 10,000).
So, that is my pessimistic review. But still, even though I know it's a hopeless task, I'm still going to embark on a wonderful (?) journey through this MMORPG game.
