About Interwiki links : That's what I suggested to Kricxjo : put the interwiki links at the end of the articles, but I won't do it myself. I put each link on a new line because it's the easiest way (for me...) to manage them in the future (compare links of 2 articles in different languages, copy and paste new links, etc). Put them at the end of the article would be a to long work, for me. I always let them where they already are. My aim, adding interwiki links, is to help the "small Wikipedias". I think the English, German and French Wikipedias can manage by themselves to improve their article structure, if needed (my opinion is that a beginning could be to DECIDE where interwiki links have to be). In fact, I will only finish the job for the Malaisian and Hindi Wikipedias (if you know where I can get the malaisian characterset for Internet Explorer 6, it would be very helpful. I can't find it on microsoft.com...), and after, I will only maintain the one I already did (the 11 smallest Wikipedias, the one with less than 100 articles), and add interwiki links for the articles interesting me, mainly in the french version. User:Gakrivas thanks for your message, Angela. I didn't know there's a Greek Wikipedia! G.

Hi Angela, thanks for helping me clean up the Radical Center pages. I'll to follow (and maybe even read :-) the Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style more closely in the future. Drernie 16:31, 24 Sep 2003 (UTC)

  • No problem - I didn't really do much. Good thing to read though. Angela

I have already explained to you why a writing that basically gives leeway to administrators to chose however they want to delete articles is dangerous. I have also explained why such an ambigious writing as "many people have expressed an opinion and there is a substantial majority" is very impractical because it can be interpreted in so many different ways.

What YOU have NOT answered is WHERE, except for the edit MyRedDice did Sep 20, it states that "a substantial majority" is enough for an article to get removed. Neither have you cared to explain how that guideline is compatible with consensus decision making. BL 18:28, 24 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Replied at Wikipedia talk:Deletion guidelines for administrators. Angela

Thanks, Angela. You corrected things before I had a chance to get a really good look at it. RickK 03:10, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Think of the positive: this problem in Wiki security has been found out in a fairly public manner, so it can't be abused (unless you count what BuddhaInside does to his own talk page as abuse, but even that doesn't damage the encyclopedia proper). Thanks to you and BuddhaInside, the problem will be fixed before anyone malevolent can get their hands on it. -- Cyan 03:37, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Indeed -BuddhaInside

I just realized: he tried it on the Main Page because it worked on his talk page after RickK protected it. (It's a plausible conjecture anyway.) -- Cyan 20:52, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Perhaps I should have said, "You'd be banned within two seconds of someone telling Eloquence." ;-) -- Cyan 21:05, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

  • Lol. Very true. Angela 21:07, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Anon talk pages

Just FYI, Brion has temporarily disabled notification for anonymous user talk pages for performance reasons.—Eloquence 21:18, Sep 25, 2003 (UTC)

I'm good at moving articles from the main namespace to the talk namespace, but I don't have any experience in effecting a merger of page histories. In fact, that's why I didn't do it myself when I was moving Anthere's comments. -- Cyan 21:56, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

  • Oh, I thought you must have needed to merge lots of pages when you did all those subpages. It was those things that put me off merging in the first place. I shall leave it to Martin then. Angela 22:04, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)

A comment on the blah McDuck stuff you've deleted. They do seem to be cartoon characters. Whether they belong in an encylopedia is another matter. The same author seems to specialise in cartoon-related articles.

Hi Angela. Re: Rewriting copyvio pages: Yes, I am aware. Strangely enough, I was just reading the discussion on Wikipedia talk:Votes for deletion/copyvio to try and resolve the issue in my head. This was actually one of my reasons for requesting to be a sysop. Having read the issue I've decided to refrain for now. There's plenty of other things I have to do! :) -- sugarfish 03:41, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

  • Oops! You're right of course about the sysop thing. I like the /Temp idea, but it would be just as easy to rewrite offline and paste in after deletion. I write a lot of stuff offline anyway... it keeps down the number of minor edits. -- sugarfish 03:49, 26 Sep 2003 (UTC)

When you delete pages, be warned that the text in the deletion reason ends up in the deletion log raw. So, if you include an inlined image in the deletion reason, then wonderful images are displayed to anyone who has the pleasure to read through the deletion log. Less than ideal... Dear Angela: Hi! Thanks for letting me know. Wik seems to have a war against me for whatever reason. If you look at the articles Ive written, one minute later Wik has found something wrong about it. I dont oppose editing as long as they are good edits, of course, but Wik seems to be obsessed. If I knew him in person Im afraid Id already had to tell him to stop harassing! LOL

I'll look at the page and see whats going on.

Once again, thanks for letting me know, and God bless you!

Sincerely yours, Antonio Wik's unobtainable fantasy Martin

Hey Angela: Thanks for supporting me. In giving your vote for me not to be de-administered, it meant a lot to me, specially now that....well, you know, someone seems to have...well I dont wanna say anything else cause the whole issue seems childish to me and I would like to drop out of trading punches with Wik and get over that.

But it meant a lot to me that you still think I am capable as an administrator and at least you pointed out your thoughts that the whole name convention argument doesnt mean Im abusing my powers.

Thanks, and God bless you.

Sincerely yours, Antonio From the Heart Martin

Concerning my vote on the arabic page, I'm not sure there are much users with 10 contribution on this Wikipedia. And obviouly, I will not do 2 editions just to be sure my vote will be considered. I don't speak arab, and there are no more articles I can link with the arab version. What edition may I do ? The fact I edit on this Wiki should be enough... Traroth

Dear Angela: I have included release under GNU Free Documentation License, re Rocketdyne Santa Susana Field Laboratory Contamination. Perhaps it didn't upload, however, it is included. Thank You, Sincerely, Madelinefelkins

  • Thank you for your message; I plan on responding to the concerns as soon as possible as I keep checking in from work. Thanks again, Sincerely, Madelinefelkins67.219.146.33 00:40, 28 Sep 2003 (UTC)

I was just about to add the boilerplate text to John Hickman, honestly. :) But well done for beating me to it! -- Oliver P. 02:04, 28 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Hi Angela!

wrt removing the redirect of firearm to gun, I may actually understand how to do this on my own now; I had assumed such a redirection required powers which I did not possess.

AND, good grief, I just realized that I can do just about anything html-wise here (like hr). OK.

I could say alot on this subject, but in the hope of clarifying in few words, I would like to ensure that anyone "GO"ing to "firearm" within the encyclopedia, will not be automatically transported to the article entitled "gun". If all that is required to eliminate this behavior of the software is to edit the field which appears when I follow "what links here" at the bottom of the "gun" article, then the problem is solved. Is the automatic redirection permanently destroyed if I enter text into this field: ["#REDIRECT Gun"]?? If so, then I can fix everything :)

Thanks! --Mark
