Major Motoko Kusanagi is a fictional character in Masamune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell anime and manga series. She is a cyborg in the employ of Public Security Section 9, part of the Japanese Police Department, as the squad leader.

Prosthetics
The Major is a full cyborg, She underwent full cyberization when she was just a child. Her current body is a top of the line model, the outward appearance is based on a common android model used by the government so she won't stand out (Custom cyborgs may be attacked for their special parts). As a cyborg, the major eats food made for cybernetic organisms. Aside from thermoptic camouflage, the Major's body doesn't have any other special features, like hidden weapons, built in.
