Kecak or Ketjak, a form of Balinese music drama, originated in the 1930's and is performed only by men. Also known as the Ramayana Monkey Chant, the piece, performed by a large group of 100 or more men percussively chanting tjak, depicts a battle from the Ramayan where monkeys help Prince Rama fight the evil King Rvana.
